Let's get back to baseball

Now that Barry Bonds has his record, maybe he can get back to playing the sport that made him oh so famous. Barry has been swinging for the fences for far too long, and (while I've been rooting for him to break the record simply so I could SEE this piece of baseball history unfold before my very eyes) I think it's about time he started playing the game the way it's meant to be played. For too many games, there has been and 'I' in team where there should not be. Just take Bonds' at-bats -- especially the last one -- the day before he broke the record. He swung for the fences for strikes two and three of that at-bat, and, I'm sure, didn't help the team one bit. I wonder how many singles and doubles Bonds has passed up while swinging for the home run record. Truly, I wanted to see Bonds break the record, but I wanted to see him break that record while trying to help his team win games. I didn't want to see him break the record the way he did it ... in the all-or-nothing swings of an absolute dolt. Over that past few weeks, I've found myself close to vomiting waiting for this record to fall. Now that it's finally fallen, maybe I'll get to watch a little baseball for a change. For the record, I realize Bonds had two non-home run base hits the night he broke the record ... but that was a variation from the norm.
